A MODEL OF INCLUSIVE, SKILLS-BASED EDUCATION

Olympia Park’s vision is to become a leading School of Skills in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, transforming young lives through quality technical training and producing skilled learners who are sought after by industry and respected in society.

Its mission is centred on inclusive, quality technical, occupational and vocational education that develops each learner’s talents, work ethic and employability through hands-on training, respect and care.

MEC Maile maintained that the school’s transformation since 2019 demonstrates what can be achieved through sustained collaboration between government, educators, parents, learners, communities and industry.

“Today, we celebrate more than the launch of Gauteng’s 41st School of Specialisation. We celebrate possibility, inclusion, skills development and hope.

“Olympia Park must demonstrate that the circumstances or learning barriers faced by a child should never determine the limits of that child’s future. Every learner possesses abilities that can be developed when we provide the right support, infrastructure, teaching, training and opportunities.

“To the learners of Olympia Park: these workshops, qualifications, partnerships and opportunities belong to you. Use them. Learn your trade. Master your skills. Pursue further education and training. Enter the workplace with confidence and, where possible, establish businesses that create employment for others.

“We congratulate the school leadership, educators, support staff, learners, parents and industry partners who have contributed to this transformation. Olympia Park Vocational and Occupational School of Specialisation represents the type of inclusive and responsive education system we must continue building — one that recognises talent in all its forms and equips every learner with an opportunity to participate meaningfully in the economy and society,” MEC Maile concluded.
