ACADEMICALLY, many pupils are doing well, and this is a source of great pride for their parents, who want to see them become the people they aspire to be one day.

To complement their academic achievements and encourage them to continue working hard towards achieving their childhood dreams, the pupils were asked to dress up as professionals they would like to become when they grow older and finish school.

The initiative gave the pupils an opportunity not only to showcase their dreams, but also to remind them that the hard work they put into their studies today can help shape the future they dream of tomorrow.

The Grade 7 pupils at Thembile Primary School in Krugersdorp looked stunning in their Career Day outfits last Friday, 11 September.

Life Orientation teacher, Siphokazi Hove delivered an important message to the pupils, reminding them that their circumstances should never prevent them from pursuing their dreams.

“Education is still the key to success. It’s not about your background; it’s about you taking forward and making sure that you achieve your goals for the long term.”

Her words encouraged learners to believe in themselves and understand that determination, education and hard work can help them reach their goals.

Pupils were encouraged to read, study and dare to dream bigger. Stakeholders committed to supporting education shared their experiences and encouraged learners to take their education seriously.

Pupils were also reminded that reading, developing skills and understanding their strengths are important steps towards choosing the right careers.

Grade 7 pupil Lisakhanya Norman said:

“This Career Day exposed us to various fields of study and encouraged us to study hard, read and know which field we want to take. Today, we were exposed to different fields of study and we are inspired to continue to study and choose the right careers.”
