BABY’S FUTURE STARTS WITH MAMA

MOST people think that non-profit organisations were established purely to solicit funding and any sort of assistance they can get.
But that’s not true. NPOs like Faith and Hope Foundation are more about an educational-oriented focus.

Faith Sibeko, founder of Faith and Hope Foundation, said women’s health is their concern and, like they used to do, the NGO crew were all over talking to women, young and old, about the importance of eating healthy food and leading a healthy lifestyle, especially pregnant women.
She said living your life without stressing about life itself was important, even though it’s not easy due to a number of challenges people go through on a day-to-day basis.
“Mama, your baby needs you strong. Choosing not to drink is choosing life, love, and a brighter future.”
The dialogue also highlighted ways in which pregnant women can overcome challenges and access assistance. Those who participated were advised to visit their local clinics when they need support. Whenever a matter is considered serious or requires specialised care, their clinics can refer the individual to an appropriate health facility for assistance.
The Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Dialogue, which was held at the Faith and Hope Foundation Centre in Ga-Rankuwa, Pretoria, took place on 9 September.

Women were also encouraged to exercise more and drink enough water daily, as this plays an important role in supporting the health and development of both mother and unborn child.
At the conclusion of the dialogue, pregnant women had an opportunity to engage with various health stakeholders for assistance and learn where to get professional help and services.
